Volunteer
Trail Work
Clinch Valley Trail Alliance values our volunteers' hard work and generosity of time to build and maintain our trails. Each month we hold a work day focused on a specific trail, project or area on the Saturday following our monthly meeting (second Tuesday of the month). Most of our efforts take place at Haw Ridge Park and the Dirt Lab in Oak Ridge, but we occasionally assist with trail work and maintenance at other trail systems in our area. There is often work needed outside of these structured work days to complete a trail or to provide more maintenance. Additional maintenance is almost always needed during the Spring and Summer to prevent the trails from becoming overgrown as well as in the months leading up to the Hill of Truth Festival to ensure the trails featured in the course are in tip-top shape.

Beginning January 1, 2023, CVTA is asking volunteers who perform approved trail work and necessary maintenance to record their hours via the link below or on the Trailforks app or website so we can keep track of the true total number of volunteer hours our membership contributes to the local outdoor community. Monthly work day hours will still be tracked with sign in sheets, so these logged hours are only for hours logged at other times.

IMPORTANT
Tools such as loppers, trimmers and saws are available for your use. Contact CVTA via email to arrange tool pick-up/drop-off or inquire about chainsaw usage.
